(Bellows Falls VT) Week Two of the 2017 Southern Vermont Idol event, a premier amateur singing competition in its 13th year, will be held on the mainstage of the 550-seat Bellows Falls Opera House on Thursday, July 13 at 7pm. The event continues on Sunday, July 23 and 30 at 2pm; and the finale will be held on Friday, August 4 at 7pm during Old Home Days weekend.
Country music selections will be performed by Zac Binney, Jaia Caron, Morgan Carter, Jenna Cousineau, Jennifer Cowdrey, Bill Delaney, Josh Delaney, Jamie Denno, Amber DiBona, Lara Germana, Erin Girouard, Mackenzie Hall, Daniel Hartigan, Madison Jacques, Alexis Johndrown, Steven Judd, Allie McGahie, Gina Richardson and Sonya Robison.
The top 4 adults have a chance to win the grand prize of $1500 and a full-day recording session at Guilford Sound, a professional recording studio in the foothills of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Second prize is $750, third $500 and fourth $250. The top 4 youth will win trophies, cash and prizes. All finalists will be invited to perform on stage during Old Home Days festivities on Saturday, August 5.
The Emcee for the event is comedian, singer and entertainer Wade Garrett. Judges for July 13 are Steve Pro, Jeanie Levesque and Sam Maskell. Judges’ scores count for 50% of contestant total, and audience scores comprise the remaining 50%.

General admission tickets are $15, Seniors 65+ are $10, Youth 12 and under free, and VIP tickets (first three center rows) are $20. Tickets also available at the door. The Saxton’s River Inn will provide a cash bar and the concessions stand will be open. Donations of personal hygiene items, socks, peanut butter/jam and other food staples will be accepted for Our Place Drop-In Center throughout all five weeks of the event.
Youth contestants ages 6-12 include Erlianyss Aviles, Lanie Goodwin, Ezra Holloway, Marlin Hubbard and Anthony Mitchell. They will perform July 23, 30 and August 4. A special pre-show performance by the students of Gym Starz (formerly Le Studio) will kick off the Idol show on July 30.
