(Bellows Falls VT) The finale of the 2017 Southern Vermont Idol event, a premier amateur singing competition in its 13th year, will be held on the mainstage of the 550-seat Bellows Falls Opera House on FRIDAY, AUGUST 4 AT 7PM.

Youth contestants who will perform for places in the Top Five are Erlianyss Aviles, Lanie Goodwin, Ezra Holloway, Marlin Hubbard and Anthony Mitchell.

And in a twist, all Top Ten adult contestants will continue on to the finale. Producer Susan MacNeil felt it was important to acknowledge the superior effort and talent this year. “This is the 13th year of the event, and never have the finalists been so dedicated and courageous. Many of our performers have not been in a competition before, yet they have risen to the occasion beautifully. So we will distribute cash prizes to the top 6 finalists instead of 4. And by allowing everyone to continue to the finale, they will have one last opportunity to perform for the judges and audience with a song of their choice. Those votes will be tallied, and these numbers will determine which six performers go on to sing their Broadway selection for our judging panel, comprised of David Stern, Joanne Mead and Steve Pro. The four contestants who do not continue on will be invited to perform their Broadway selection for the audience before the finale results are announced.”

The ten performers are Zac Binney, Jaia Caron, Jennifer Cowdrey, Josh Delaney, Jamie Denno, Amber DiBona, Lara Germana, Mackenzie Hall, Allie McGahie and Sonya Robison.

The top 6 adults have a chance to win the grand prize of $1500 and a full-day recording session at Guilford Sound, a professional recording studio in the foothills of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Second prize is $750, third $500, fourth $250, fifth $150 and sixth $100. The top 5 youth will win trophies and cash prizes. All finalists will be invited to perform on stage during Old Home Days festivities on Saturday, August 5.
